Borrowed phone leads to arrest in White Plains


WHITE PLAINS — A Hawthorne woman told police that she loaned her telephone to another woman and was punched in the face and threatened with a knife when she asked for it back.

The Saturday morning drama at the Galleria mall ended with the arrest of the borrower, identified as Sandra Tarasz, 22, of 134 Willis Ave., Hawthorne.

The victim told cops Tarasz hit her, then pulled a butterfly knife from her purse and threatened to kill her, when she asked for the return of her phone.

Tarasz then ran away, but was spotted on Martine Avenue a few minutes later and arrested.

She’s charged with second -degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of weapon, both misdemeanors .
